 Appointed Interim Executive Director of the Wisconsin Center for Nursing (WCN) in November 2009.
She has served as the WCN Board President for the past two years, served as Vice – Chair of the WCN board as well as was an active member of Wisconsin Nursing Redesign Committee. Most recently, she was instrumental in establishing the Nursing Leadership Academy, a joint effort with the Wisconsin Organization of Nurse Executives.
Ms Schuler retired from Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division after 24 year as Director of Nursing and Acute Inpatient and Crisis Service Administrator. Currently, she is a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and a consultant for mental health programs. Over the past 30 years, Ms Schuler served on numerous Milwaukee area boards that address mental health and substance abuse issues.

Ms. Schuler’s leadership in professional nursing in Wisconsin has been extensive. She has been an active member of the Wisconsin Nurses Association (WNA) for over 30 years, served on WNA”s Public Policy Council for most of those years and has been chairperson of the council numerous times. She chaired WNA”s Advanced Practice Advisory Council which brought together representatives from all the APN specialties. This council addressed APN reimbursement and statute changes to support the work of APNP’s. Also, she is one of the founders of the Wisconsin Nurses Political Action Committee (WINPAC) and served as Chairperson of the WINPAC Board of Trustees. Ms Schuler served as chair of the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and was instrumental in establishing the Impaired Nurse Program.
Ms Schuler received her baccalaureate degree from St Catherine University, St. Paul Minnesota and her Master’s degree from Northern Illinois University in Community Mental Health. Her doctoral work was at the University of Wisconsin in Child and Family Studies.
